@Dan: It would be a real shame if Pandora was forced to close. Their service is innovative and a sign of the potential that the internet offers music and I would be a sorry indictment of the established industry if they stifled that sort of innovation.

Nice post, and cheers for the link back… It is interesting to see the comparison and context of projects like Muxtape, and Open Tape, the self-hosted version.

I think Blip.fm is slightly safer, in that it does offer a route for legal downloads via Amazon – but it really depends on the definition of the service, and whether it counts as internet radio. If it does, then it’ll face the same charges which have seen Pandora’s boss claim they’re close to closing – double the fees of analogue radio….
